We know that we haven’t been giving much news about HGG for a while, so we thought you might like to know how we’ve been getting on!

All in all, HGG has been very lucky over this past year. No one on our team or any of our contacts has fallen seriously ill, and we’re incredibly grateful for that! It all could have been so much worse, and our hearts go out to all those who have suffered loss, pain and stress during this time.

So, how have our games been affected? Several of our projects have been affected by the crisis, but the only thing we’ve really lost is time. We fell behind during the first lockdown as the team adapted to working from home, which turned out to be more difficult for us than expected. We’re quite the little family here at HGG, and missing out on our daily interactions with each other hit us pretty hard.

On top of that, as many of you already know, there has been a global production and shipping crisis that has drastically slowed the process of getting games printed and sent. Our factory partners are incredibly backed up, so getting our games to production is taking much longer than usual. We’ve been experiencing considerable delays with prototyping and modification requests.

As a result, several of our projects are running late, notably Titan, Museum Deluxe and Museum: Pictura. We’ve spent the past few months working hard to get them back on track, which is why you have’t heard much from us – we’ve had our nose to the grindstone. We’re pleased to report that we’re almost there! At the time this article was written, all of our current projects are now as far as we can take them. We are waiting on final samples from the factories to be checked before going to production. If you made a late pledge for Titan, Museum Deluxe or Museum: Pictura and would like to know exactly where the project is at, we post regular updates on their respective Kickstarter pages, so be sure to take a look!

HGG has also had some good changes over the past year! We’re delighted to say that we’ve added two new people to our team.

Joëlle Drans started out as an intern with us, but it very quickly became apparent that she was made to be part of the HGG family! She now works with us full time in our offices here in Nancy, as an illustrator and graphic designer. She has incredible talent in both domains, and we couldn’t be happier to have her on the team.

We also recently welcomed Jérémie Prugneaux to HGG! He is also an illustrator and graphic designer, and is already proving himself to be an invaluable member of the team. Having two new members in our art and design team will allow us to complete our projects much faster.

The changes don’t stop there. We’ve also been making some improvements to our office space.  The HGG filming studio has been moved to a new room. As well as being a warm, welcoming space with some fun new decor, its larger size means that we can film from a variety of angles and have more players at the table!

The office kitchen has also been revamped, allowing us to spread out more and eat in safer conditions. We happen to have a couple of cooking fanatics here, who treat us by whipping up delicious meals for the whole team!

On top of that, we’ve been working on our new website, giving it a makeover and adding a new feature: our web store! We’ve been trying to get this up and running for a while, and we can’t wait to show it to you.

Many of you have been asking us what we have planned for this year. Up until now, we’ve been keeping things under wraps, as we wanted to concentrate on getting our delayed projects into production. Now that things are moving along, we can finally show you what we have in store for you this year!

– Dominations: Road to Civilization – Deluxe

Dominations is getting another crowdfunding campaign! Dominations: Road to Civilization was one of our earliest projects. Its Kickstarter campaign back in 2018 was a modest success with almost 2000 backers. As an expert Civ game with some fairly abstract elements, we were really happy with the result.

However, since its release into retail, the game has become a bit of a sleeper hit, attracting great reviews, including the Seal of Excellence from Dice Tower. It is now mostly sold out worldwide, so we decided to launch a new crowdfunding campaign for a reprint. But of course, we’re adding some exciting new content too, including a new expansion and a deluxe storage box.

The Dominations: Road to Civilization crowdfunding campaign will launch on Thursday April 29th. The campaign will last for 3 weeks, ending on May 20th. More information coming soon!

  • Tiles of the Arabian Nights

Tiles of the Arabian Nights is our next crowdfunding project, coming this summer. In this unique pick-and-delivery storytelling game by Matthieu Podevin, author of Titan, you take on the role of a character from the classic folk tales of The Arabian Nights.

You play as citizens of Bagdad taking part in a storytelling contest held by the Sultan. The aim of the game is to collect the inspiration you need to impress the Sultan with a truly epic story.

More information on this game coming soon!

As well as the retail releases of Rallyman: DIRT this summer and Museum: Pictura this autumn, we have two other exciting projects coming this year! But that’s a post for another day ;)

We have lots more news for you, but this is already turning into a rather long post. We’ll be back soon with more! Stay tuned folks….
